Marlin Apartments, the leading owner-operator of serviced apartments in central London, is to open a flagship 218-room apart-hotel on Westminster Bridge Road in the capital in 2016. The property is the company’s seventh in London and its first apart-hotel venture.
Working with planning consultants Jones Lang LaSalle, Marlin Apartments secured the go ahead this week to redevelop the site. The new development, which will feature a premium quality apart-hotel, office units, ground floor shops and restaurant, is scheduled to open in 2016.
The new building will be situated less than a five minute walk from Lambeth North Underground Station and within a ten minute walk of key London tourist attractions including The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, The London Eye and The London Dungeon.
“The development on Westminster Bridge Road is a very exciting proposition for Marlin Apartments as it allows us to diversify our offering to both the corporate and leisure travel markets,” said Susan Cully, managing director, Marlin Apartments.
“By adopting the apart-hotel business model for the first time, we can offer guests a more compact offering but with the same high level of design, facilities, style, customer service and value as we already offer across Marlin Apartments’ six other sites.
“The Westminster Bridge Road location will make us more appealing than ever to the leisure traveller. With the corporate travel market tending to book shorter stays, which rarely extend into the weekend, diversifying into the leisure market is increasingly important to Marlin Apartments’ future business.”
Marlin Apartments was founded in 2003 and already owns and manages 700 four star-equivalent premium apartments.
